    ­ 03/31/08   McCurdy Recognized by IPC

    Scott McCurdy of Freedom CAD Services, Inc. received a "Special Recognition Award" at the 2008 IPC Printed Circuits Expo, APEX and the Designers Summit in Las Vegas.

    The award was presented in appreciation and recognition of Scott’s support of the IPC Designers Council activities by the IPC on behalf of the PCB and EMS industries, their suppliers and customers. 

    Mr. McCurdy is the President of the Orange County California Designers Council Chapter and since assuming this responsibility in 2003, has grown his chapter into the largest chapter in the US.

    Freedom CAD’s CEO and Co-Founder Lou Primmer commented, “We are proud of Scott’s association with the IPC and his recent award.  He has been the consummate ambassador for the IPC and is clearly setting the standard for chapter participation and growth.   Kudos to Scott and his Chapter’s executive staff for helping him garner this well deserved recognition.”

    Freedom CAD Services, Inc. (FCS) is pleased to announce Don Duncan as their Chief Technology Officer. 

    CEO and Co-Founder Lou Primmer offered, “We have become one of the largest independent Design Service Bureau’s in North America through the dedication to technology, quality and service of our printed circuit board physical design team. Over the past five years, an increasing number of customers have asked that we provide a broader range of services, such as electrical and mechanical engineering, to help them to meet their technology and/or time to market needs.  As the demand for this wider range of engineering services grew, it became apparent that we needed someone to help us organize and manage these elements of the business.”

    ­ 01/21/08   Freedom CAD Adds Director of Operations

    Freedom CAD Services, Inc. (FCS) is pleased to announce that Eddie Broyles has joined the company as Director of Operations. 

    Mr. Broyles joins Freedom CAD after 16 years with Solectron/Flextronics.  “We are very excited to have Eddie join Freedom CAD,” commented Lou Primmer, CEO.   “His years of experience in building and managing a staff of over 400 engineers and technicians for a world class organization like Solectron/Flextronics will provide us with the leadership necessary for us to continue to expand our capabilities and successfully manage our growth.  By leveraging Eddie’s previous management experience along with the nimbleness of Freedom CAD, we hope to provide our customers with a flexible and unique solution to their needs for electrical and mechanical engineering and Printed Circuit Board design.”        

     

     

    ­ 09/16/07   Jardon Joins Freedom CAD

    Freedom CAD Services, Inc. (FCS) is pleased to announce that Robert Jardon has joined the company as a Senior Project Manager and Printed Circuit Board Designer.  

    Robert formerly owned and operated Jardon Engineering, of Tustin, CA, which was acquired by Kaparel Corporation, a Rittal Company in 2001.   Lauren Primmer, President and COO commented, “We are thrilled to have Robert join our company!   He brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to the organization and will be the perfect compliment to our talented staff.  His industry experience will provide us with a seasoned perspective and help us to grow and improve Freedom CAD!”

    Robert’s particularly skilled at designing high-speed Backplanes and complex Daughtercards and has participated in a number of industry leading organizations over the years such as the PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group’s (PICMG) 2.0 CompactPCI and 3.0 AdvancedTCA Committees.  Robert will work out of our growing Santa Ana, California Design Center.”

     

     

    ­ 08/20/07   Freedom CAD Launches California Design Center

    Freedom CAD Services, a leading provider of high-performance printed circuit board physical design (layout) and fabrication, has opened a design center in Santa Ana, California.   The office is conveniently located at 505 Tustin Avenue, in Santa Ana and will enable Freedom CAD to provide local PCB layout services to their growing number of West Coast customers.

    Lauren Primmer, COO and President of Freedom CAD offered, “We have been planning our expansion in the West for nearly a year.   We have growing number of customers located on the West Coast and with our headquarters in Nashua, New Hampshire, there are some logistic challenges now and then resulting from our time zone difference.  Establishing the Santa Ana design center enables us to overcome these challenges and consistently provide the level of service that we have become recognized for.”

    McCurdy Named West Coast Business  Development Manager

    Freedom CAD Services, a leading provider of high-performance printed circuit board physical design (layout) and fabrication services, has named Scott McCurdy as Business Development Manager for the West Coast.

    Mr. McCurdy brings over 35 years of printed circuit board industry experience to this role.   As the former President and CEO of McCurdy Circuits, Mr. McCurdy operated one of the leading printed circuit board fabrication shops in California in the 1990’s thru the early 2000’s.   Before joining Freedom CAD he was the Business Development Manager of Jardon Engineering.   In addition to this role, for the past 4 years Mr. McCurdy has also been the President of the Orange County chapter of the IPC Designer Council.  The membership of this chapter has quadrupled during his tenure, making it the largest chapter in the US.

    ­ 07/31/07  Cadence’s GRE Technology Offered at Freedom CAD

    Freedom CAD Services, a leading provider of high-performance printed circuit board physical design (layout), has recently signed a licensing agreement with EMA Design Automation, the Cadence North American Channel Partner, for the Cadence Allegro suite of PCB design software.  The license agreement includes the Allegro 16.0 Global Route Environment Technology, also known as “GRE.”  This revolutionary technology combines a graphical interconnect flow-planning architecture and a hierarchically-aware global routing engine to provide PCB designers with an automated, intelligent planning and routing environment.  Freedom CAD is one of the first design service bureau’s in the world to offer this tool.

    Freedom CAD Services, a leading provider of high-performance printed circuit board physical design (layout) has recently inked a deal with Valor to double its capacity for their Enterprise 3000 Design for Manufacturability (DFM) verification tool.   Freedom CAD, a Certified Design Partner with Valor, has standardized on Enterprise 3000 to perform over 700 DFM checks on every design. 

    “By using Valor’s Enterprise 3000 software, we are able to review every design for DFM compatibility against the Engineering Rules Files (ERF’s) of the printed circuit board fabricator”, commented Lauren Primmer, President and Co-Founder of Freedom CAD.  “This assures that the transition from PCB design to fabrication will be seamless, resulting in the better efficiency and the highest quality for our customers.  And because of our familiarity with the tool, we are able to optimize its efficiency and save our customers time and money!”

    ­ 07/02/07  Freedom CAD Hosts Stampede Pancake Breakfast
    Nearly one hundred Freedom CAD customers from the greater Calgary area were treated to a “Stampede Pancake Breakfast” as part of this annual celebration. The Calgary Stampede is a large festival, exhibition, and rodeo held in Calgary, Alberta for ten days every July. It is Canada's largest annual event and it features an internationally recognized rodeo competition, a midway, stage shows, concerts, agricultural competitions, chuckwagon races, First Nations exhibitions, and pancake breakfasts around the city, among other attractions. The event draws over 1.2 million attendees annually.

    Cloudy skies and a steady rain didn’t dampen the spirits of those attending this inaugural event. Dean Foster, Western Operations manager and coordinator of the breakfast for Freedom CAD was “very pleased with the turnout for this first time event for the FCS team. It was great to see so many current and future customers take the time to join us and share in the spirit of the Canada’s largest festival. We’re already making plans on how to make it even better for next year!”

    Also making time out of their busy schedules to travel from their Nashua, NH headquarters to attend the event were Freedom CAD Co-Founders Lou and Lauren Primmer. CEO, Lou and President Lauren were all smiles as they had a chance to meet with a cross section of their customers away from the traditional confines of the office. Lou commented, “I’m very pleased to see that so many of our Calgary customers took the time out of their busy days to join in our pancake breakfast celebration. It’s a tribute to the relationships that our design team has established with their customers to have this turnout and make this inaugural event a successful one. We’re looking forward to doing it again next year!”

     

    ­ 05/05/07  Miller Promoted to Executive Vice President

    Freedom CAD Services, Inc. (FCS) announces the promotion of Scott Miller to the position of Executive Vice President.  This comes just a year after being named Vice President and reflects his impact on Freedom CAD since his arrival three years ago.  During his tenure at Freedom CAD Miller has contributed to strengthen and grow Freedom CAD into a leadership status in the printed circuit board (PCB) layout business.

    Miller joined the FCS management team in March 2004 as a Director of Marketing and Sales and was promoted to Vice President a year ago after helping to guide the organization’s customer diversification and growth.   Miller continues to immerse himself in the company business, leading its growth with uncompromising dedication.

    Freedom CAD Services, Inc has announced that Deborah Johnston, a former Senior Manager of Solectron's Ecad Design Center in Ottawa, ON, has recently joined Freedom CAD Services as the Ottawa Operations Manager. 

    Prior to joining Freedom CAD, Ms. Johnston held numerous design and design management positions at Solectron and Nortel during her 23 year industry career.

    ­ 01/01/07  Former Nortel manager Joins Freedom CAD

    Freedom CAD Services, Inc is pleased to announce that Dean Foster, a former Hardware Engineering Manager at Nortel, has recently joined Freedom CAD Services as the Director of Western Operations.  Prior to joining Freedom CAD, Mr. Foster held numerous design management  and senior roles in Wireless, Enterprise and Consumer product divisions during his 16 year tenure at Nortel.

    ­ 08/03/06  FCS Expands into new Nashua, NH Headquarters

    Freedom CAD Services, Inc recently moved its headquarters to a newly renovated office at 20 Cotton Rd, Nashua, New Hampshire.  The new facility is over twice as large as its previous headquarters, providing room for future planned expansion.  The office space has been specifically designed to provide a more “user friendly” environment for their employees and visiting customers.

    “We were very fortunate to find a quality office space that met our space and location requirements and provided the opportunity to build it out to fulfill our vision of what the Corporate headquarters should be,” said Lou Primmer CEO of Freedom CAD.  “This location provided us with the ability to design a floor plan that included a number of conference rooms and private engineering offices to comfortably host customer visits, which is very important to us.”

    ­ 04/03/06  Miller takes Vice President's Seat at FCS

    Freedom CAD Services, Inc. (FCS) announced today the promotion of Scott Miller to Vice President of Sales & Marketing. This promotion is viewed by FCS as both an important next step for the Company, as well as a highly-deserved acknowledgement of Miller’s contribution to the Company’s unprecedented growth.

    A 25-plus year veteran of the electronics industry, Miller joined the team at FCS in March 2004 as a Director. His previous successes include various responsibilities with DuPont/Berg Electronics (now FCI), Litton/Winchester and Teradyne Connections Systems.

    ­ 03/31/06  FCS Expands in Texas

    Freedom CAD Services, Inc. (FCS) has expanded its presence in Texas and opened a design center in Dallas (Plano) to service their growing customer base in Southern North America.  Randy Jackson and Barry Hurley, both 25 year veterans of the electronics industry, have joined Freedom CAD to manage this facility, located in the Jupiter Tech Center in Plano, TX.  This will bring Freedom CAD’s current designer headcount in Texas to five with plans to double the Texas staff within a year.

    Freedom CAD Services, Inc. (FCS) was informed on October 21, 2005 of its certification as a contractor under the U.S.-Canada Joint Certification Program (JCP). This program facilitates the transfer of unclassified technical data for military or space applications mutually beneficial to the United States Department of Defense (DOD) and the Canadian Department of National Defense (DND).

    In 1985, the DOD and DND created the U.S.-Canada Joint Certification Office (JCO), from which Freedom CAD Services earned its certification. The JCO handles many matters pertaining to the mutual defense of North America.

    Freedom CAD Services, Inc. (FCS) has recently finalized a Merger Agreement with Ruppert Design of Sacramento, California. Financial details were not released.  The combined company's name will remain Freedom CAD Services, Inc. under the same senior management, and the company headquarters will continue to be located in Nashua, NH. 

    Freedom CAD is recognized as one of the fastest growing independent and privately owned PCB Design Services Bureaus in the nation, and this merger with Ruppert Design will continue to extend the company footprint from coast to coast.  Both Freedom CAD and Ruppert Design have origins dating back nearly twenty-five years, and their synergies for designing high-speed, high-performance, rules-driven printed circuit boards made the union a natural fit.

(FCS), one of North America's fastest growing, independent printed circuit design service bureaus, has recently expanded its presence in Canada by opening a design location in Ottawa, ON. This expansion adds another location to Freedom CAD's growing Canadian footprint, which already included Vancouver and Calgary.

The celebration concluded two days of company-wide training sessions addressing advanced PCB design techniques involving the entire design staff. Freedom CAD has doubled its staff to over 30 designers during the past twelve months and has design centers in Philadelphia, PA; Huntsville, AL; Dallas, TX; Denver, CO; and Nashua, NH in the U.S., and Ottawa, ON; Calgary; AB and Vancouver, BC in Canada.
